Icelandic connections

What joy wool brings all around the world.

The Thingborg wool centre from Selfossi in Iceland celebrated their 25th anniversary in Scotland . Having been part of a Both textile project where some of the group had visited the railway in 2013 and then meeting them again in Slovenia in 2014 as part of a textile exchange- they decided to deepen the friendships and a group of 10 textile artists came to stay in Dalmally and Oban for a few days last week. The train service made it possible for the group to travel together to and from the station.

Such joy to reconnect and share and the display of hand grown wool and hand crafts by each of the women was delightful.

We love the way Thingborg brings together all wool skills in a co operative way. We were fortunate to have a whole day of sharing their skills with a public bbq and feast on the station platform. Textile enthusiasts from all over Argyll came to meet and share their skills and knowledge.

We are so impressed we have decided to stock some of the Icelandic Lopi and some of the excellent knitting and crochet kits they are producing. These are unique in Scotland to Heartfelt Studio
