Ann Ross is Scotland Co-ordinator for feltmaking in Scotland and the back bone of the felt makers stand each year at the SECC. There are a loyal team of assistants that each year give up their free time to share the love of their craft with others.
It is tiring, standing talking to people for 4 days as well as the two days set up and dismantling of the groups work but it is wonderful to meet the people who you have sowed the seeds of enthusiasm on a previous year, come back and tell you how they have blossomed.
This years theme will include many native breeds of sheep and to give a hands on as to what these sheep really look like we have included a range of felted fleeces. Ann and myself regularly run workshops on felting fleeces. The next one here at Dalmally is Sunday July 12th.
What I love about the group stand is the diversity of the work and the techniques, some of the members are hobbits and some do make a living from their craft. Do come along and find out more about the Scottish Feltmakers Summer School in Dunblane .
