Weave share day Friday January 23rd 2015

So what is Weave Share Day and why are we getting excited to be kicking off 2015 with new vigour?

Weave share day began with a story of ‘I have a loom belonging to my Aunty in my cupboard’.

I also had a floor loom I couldn’t quite get my head around warping up and so a few friends got together to share the little knowledge they had between them.

Out of this lovely beginning has blossomed great friendships , sharing of skills and knowledge ( and cake !! ) we all have a love of wool or ‘fluff’ in common and all come with a different perspective to wool crafts. We were just about weaving but feel that many of us spin too, some to weave and some to knit so we have opened the day to Spinners and Weavers and if you just wish to take your knitting or sewing along for company then that’s fine too.

We meet at Dalmally Railway Station from 11am-4pm and bring some food to share if we stay the day or just pop in for a cuppa if you are curious. We have peg looms, triangular looms , inkle looms , rigid heedle looms  and we are revamping two 4 shaft table looms. There is always something available for empty hands so no worry if you are just thinking of taking up these skills- its a great way of learning a little more from people who started from the basics.
