Heartfelt Studio is delighted to have Emma teach her skill in 2018.
From her home on a hill farm on the west coast of Scotland artist Emma McGrigor is creating the most exquisite personalised silk painted heirlooms of the future
Originally inspired by samplers of the 18th and 19th centuries, the paintings depict all manner of events, from a stork announcing babies date of birth and weight, to a church bell entwined with ring and ribbons to commemorate a wedding day.
Individually painted on the finest silk, they are as beautiful to the touch as they are to the eye. Emma works closely with her customers to design their unique and exclusive piece. She says ‘Life is full of important events. Everyone has a different and remarkable story to tell. What I love to do is create pictures for those stories that can be enjoyed by generation after generation’.
Emma was trained at Central School of Art and Design and Middlesex University and is a member of the Guild of Silk Painters and Craft Scotland
She teaches and holds workshops in silk painting for all age groups, from sessions with school children to a weekend with the local Women’s Institute. ‘Everyone can enjoy silk painting and go home with a finished work of art at the end of the day. Silk is wonderful to work with and the results are a delightful riot of colours and embellishments.
£70 per student covers a full day tuition all materials and a light lunch in a very unique setting of a Victorian Railway Station. Numbers are limited to allow excellent tuition.
Emma is available for private bookings to teach her very unique style of silk painting.
