Scottish feltmakers news letter Oct 2013

Scottish Feltmakers Newsletter Oct. 2013
Many thanks to all of you who exhibited at Birnam. This was a most successful exhibition of members work with many very positive comments – “inspiring” “innovative” “great variety of techniques” just some of the comments. Well done!I Hope many of you got an opportunity to visit Birnam and see the talent of our members and felt friends.
NOW onwards and upwards! NEXT EXHIBITION will be at The Barony Centre West Kilbride, near Largs 25th April – 29th June 2014 Title “FELT FANTASTIC” This is a fantastic venue – a refurbished church with amazing space, architecture and light so lots of opportunity for your creativity. You may want to enter previous exhibited work or be inspired to work on something new. I will be sending more detailed info later with deadline dates for submission. The Curator Maggie, will assist with the selection of entries. To view the venue www.crafttownscotland.org
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
December 1st December Braeport Centre, Dunblane 10am – 4pm
Jan. 12th Braeport Centre, Dunblane 10am – 4pm
We are revamping the 24 Scottish Heritage Standards in readiness firstly for the Felt Fantastic Exhibition in 2014 and afterwards at the Tower House, Hawick as the original backing fabric is becoming rather tired looking – so, its time for a face-lift! Better quality fabric has been purchased and prepared, but we need VOLUNTEERS to help sew the felts onto the new background material!!!!! Their last viewing was at the Kelso Show where The Countess of Wessex ran her hands across the felt in admiration! Does that give us Royal Appointment??
PLEASE COME (if only for a short time) and help us in this sewing venture and take the opportunity to socialise and even make some felt yourself if you wish (perhaps make a start on an item for next exhibition!) The more the merrier!
Thanks again for all your support. Ann Ross, Co-ordinator Scottish Feltmakers
